Eagles "Hotel California Tour," Perhaps Their Biggest to Date

Being a band that has had mass solidarity back in the 70s, but not heard from much nowadays, the Eagles have been on their Hotel California Tour since September 2019.

Three Years in the Making

 The band had planned to tour in the latter half of 2016 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of their fifth album, but due to the passing of founder Glenn Frey in January of 2016, they elected to push it back.

The band

 The tour features the Eagles in their current, power-trio ensamble (Henley-Schmidt-Walsh), as well as Glenn Frey's son, Deacon Frey, and Vince Gill of Pure Prairie League (who a hit in 1975 with Amie).

The setlist

 The tour's setlist is divided into two parts. Part one is the album, Hotel California, in its entirety, accompanied by an orchestra. Part two is the Eagles' greatest hits, aside from those already played from the album. In total, there are 77 musicians performing with the Eagles folks!

The tour itself

 As mentioned earlier, the Hotel California: 2020 tour began in September of 2019. Their first 3 shows in September and October 2019 in Las Vegas, were one of the longest in their career.

Unfortunately on March 21, 2020, the Eagles' website showed a statement that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tour would be pushed back until the fall; however, yet another statement was issued at the beginning of May stating that the rest of the tour will take place in 2021 due to the pandemic and the social distancing measures inacted.

Folks, this may be one of your last (if not THE last) chances to see the Eagles. I highly suggest you pick up tickets as soon as you can. I hope I will get to go.

  Although of minor significance, today is 35 years since we lostJimmy Stokley of Exile. A little known Kentucky band, Exile is perhaps only known for their 1978 hit Kiss You All Over . In the 80s, the band shifted to more of a country sound, and has not made any noteable chart hits since. Bijelo Dugme - Former Yugoslavia's Greatest Rock Band

In today's blog post, we will examine perhaps one of the GREATEST rock bands of the former Yugoslavia. Bijelo Dugme (The White Button), which by sound is largely influenced by the heavy metal likes of Deep Purple, Zeppelin, and Sabbath; however in culture, they were most simillar to the Beatles. In fact, there was a Dugmeania in the former Yugoslavia in the late 70s akin to Beatlemania in the US in the 60s. The brainchild of the band was a young man named Goran Bregovich, aka Brega. He was born on 3, 22, 1950 in Sarajevo to a Serbian mother and a Croatian father. At some point, his mother enrolled him into a music school with violin as a chosen instrument, but around twelve he was expelled showing lack of interest. Consequently, his mother bought him a guitar in his early teenage years. Brega's first bands were high school bands. He played bass guitar for Beshtije (The Beasts). The Synthesizer in Rock Music

When people think of rock, it's a knee-jerk reaction to think traditional instruments (a la guitar, bass, drums, piano, organ, sometimes woodwind instruments, etc). But what most don't realize is there's more to rock besides the blazing, mean guitars. The advent of the synthesizer is perhaps the most popular of these examples. A Brief History: Up until the early to mid 60s, there was not widespread usage of the terms keyboard player or keyboardist . Rather, such musicians were referred to either as pianists or organists depending on what they played. Then, in the mid 60s, there was a technological boom. The first electronic music instrument most popular was the melotron. Being a sampling keyboard, it acted as a portable orchestra or choir without the need to book extra manpower to record an album or song.
