Rolling Stones Postpone Tour (Again) This Time Due to Coronavirus

Just after a wrote, a few weeks ago, about the Stones continuing their tour in 2020, comes word of The Stones indefinitely postponing the rest of their North American leg of their No Filter tour.

It's not the first time...

The Stones were set to start the North American leg of their No Filter tour in June of last year. However, a problem with Mick Jagger's heart required him to have a heart valve replacement and get rest.

This led to them rescheduling the tour dates - not even playing at the New Orleans Heritage and Jazz Festival where they are (tentatively) scheduled to play in early May of this year, but with the dates after the event cancelled, I wouldn't be surprised if they miss a second year in a row of not performing in New Orleans.

What was the plan?

The Stones were set to perform a second set of tour dates in North America. The shows would run from May 8 in San Diego, to July 9 in Atlanta. As it is, all those shows are being postponed indefinitely until further notice.

Not Just Stones, Not Just Shows

The Stones are not alone in this. Many fellow rockers and other artists alike are pushing back tours as our event vendors such as LiveNation. Most recently, Sir Elton John had to push back the rest of his Farewell Yello Brick Road farewell tour that was originally set to continue since late March. The Foo Fighters postponed their shows too.

It's not just musicians folks. Many movie premiers and viewings among other things are being postponed due to the drastic situation.

Going Virtual?

Due to the circumstances, many acts are also considering doing virtual, online shows where they play their songs and allow their fans to view the show online from the safety of their own homes.

For now, let's just hope that our rockstar friends get to take to the stage again some time in the coming months. In the meantime, stay healthy!
