Some Farewell Tours of 2019
Well it's been a while, so I finally decided to write yet another good blog. Hoping everyone had a safe and happy new year.
Now that we are in the new year, I thought it'd be a good time to address some farewell tours coming up this year.
Elton John:
While he may be "still standing," EJ has finally decided his future lies off the stage. In consequence, he will embark on his three-year, so-called "Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour," starting in September of this year and going on for three years with more than 300 shows! Talk about plenty of opportunity to see him.
Ozzy Osbourne:
The Prince of Darkness parted ways with his long-time band, Black Sabbath, back in February of 2017.when the band played their last ever show in their hometown of Birmingham, England. Ozzy himself has gotten tired of touring and in 1992 even embarked on his "No More Tours Tour." However, Oz had gotten back into the swing of things for many years and even released a few more solo records, but he revealed that in 2019, he is planning to start his "No More Tours 2 Tour." This one will be his true farewell...
One silver lining, Ozzy and Tony Iommi have expressed interest in playing at the 2022 Commonwealth games - especially since it looks like they will be held in their hometown of Birmingham.
Paul Simon:
Perhaps best known for being one half the folk duo of Simon & Garfunkel during the 1960s, Simon has toured and recorded ever since they broke up in the early 1970s. Simon did come back with Arthur Garfunkel in 1982 for a Concert at Central Park, but this summer is the beginning of the end for him. After a European tour, Paul Simon will play US dates starting September.
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band:
In September of last year, Seger announced his farewell tour that will last through the good part of 2019 and perhaps even into early 2020. Since the mid 1970s, Seger made a name for himself as the founder of the Silver Bullet Band, which backed him off and on since then alongside various session musicians. Most notable members of the band include Chris Campbell (bass), Grand Funk's Don Brewer (drums), another Grand Funk member Craig Frost (keyboards), and legendary sax player Alto Reed.
Well that's about it for this year's farewell tours. Hopefully, you'll decide to snag yourselves a pair of tickets to see these musicians for it may well be the last time...
